Kinosaki, Japan (March 2016)

16 March 2016 (Wednesday)
So we took a train ride from Osaka station (can't remember was it Osaka or Shin-Osaka) to Kinosakionsen station! There's not many trains that goes to this place so we had to book for the train timing earlier. We chanced upon this place when researching on where to go. Was thinking of going to somewhere else (forgot where it was) but totally scraped that place away when we found this. The internet didn't have much information on this place so it was quite a yolo decision. When researching on this place, the pictures that came out were all those old Japan town which I had always wanted to go so badly (because I don't really crowded areas such as the city).
Upon arriving, we were so hungry. I guess it was close to noon already so we quickly got to finding a place to eat. This shop that we came to was empty when we entered so we were quite suspicious of it but then an old man came out. He gave us a Japanese menu which we didn't have a clue on what to order, so we thought of pointing to those clay food outside. But then I think he saw us looking quite lost so he came out with an English menu (what a surprise!) After ordering, there were more people that came in! Almost everyone in this town were Japanese, I think they were either going on a trip with their friends to head to the Onsen or something. Most of the people here looked like they were students, or just couples.
Surprisingly the curry udon here was really really good. Shimin's udon was really good too. The udon's so tender and soft it literally just melt in your mouth. That's the difference between Japan and Singapore's udon. The udon I always have in Singapore is so hard like rock...

Bought a couple of souvenirs from this shop. I bought some biscuits and chilli. Had the White Coffee ice-cream too and it was so freaking good!!! I always loved coffee ice-cream and this just went up to another level. Oh yeah, I eat ice-cream every day when I'm overseas, especially when the weather's cold.
So a man happily volunteered to help us to take photos but his photography skill weren't that good even though he seemed to be professional. He has a daughter and she's so cute!? Hahaha so he offered to let us take a picture with his daughter. He's really nice though. Japanese are all so nice, except some in Tokyo.
Ice-cream again. Hahaha. So we just walked around the whole of Kinosaki and stumbled onto different shrines and etc.
My favourite anime somehow got featured on this shop so I decided to buy this to dry. It was some beef thingy. There was a long queue when I just arrived so I was wondering what the hyped was about. But it was just so-so.

We were done by the time it's 4pm (even walking a few rounds) so I went to see if there are trains to somehow get back to Osaka (even though we booked the 6pm train). So I just yolo and hopped onto a train that I think will bring us to Osaka. I think it was heading to Kyoto? But the train was leaving in a few minutes and it was at the opposite track so we ran all the way.
And yes we successfully got onto the train!! The train ended up stopping in the middle of somewhere but I think it was heading to Osaka on the other track so I changed the train hahahaha. My sense of direction is kind of awesome I guess :/

It was a really good day at Kinosaki! It's really different from Kyoto because Kyoto has lots of things that are supposed to attract tourists and all and there's lots of modern buildings and culture that's mixed with the old culture which you can't really feel the old Japan culture that you should feel when being in Japan! In Kinosaki you can really see Japanese wearing Yukata walking around. The area's so peaceful that I really didn't want to get back.
